In her interview with Tom Snyder (it's in YouTube, search for it please), Rand stressed that the conservatives will be the cause of the collapse of the United States. Also in her book Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal, Rand titled one of her essays "Conservatism: An Obituary." Rand was highly criticized by the conservatives of her time due to her atheism. The mouthpiece of America's conservatism-- the National Review-- attacked her without end. National Review's Whittaker Chamber even called Rand unprintable names in his review of the Atlas Shrugged and made a famous line "to the gas chamber!"
